A BLOCKBUSTING concert of music from the musicals opens at Burnley Mechanics on Thursday.
“Broadway Lights, West End Nights” is a real song and dance spectacular featuring the best from the world of musicals and presented by the best singers and dancers from Burnley Light Opera Society.
It runs from Thursday to Saturday in the Mechanics Theatre and tickets are on sale now at the box office on 664400, costing £10 on Thursday and £12 on Friday and Saturday.
The sparkling evening is in memory of much-loved actress and director Cynthia Sanderson who, right up to her unexpected death last year, was acting and directing with local societies.
And poignantly it will feature song and dance from six shows that she had either appeared in or directed – “The Sound Of Music”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Oliver”, “My Fair Lady”, “42nd Street” and “Promises Promises”.
But “Broadway Lights, West End Nights” also has much more and will feature the best from the world of musicals with excerpts from “Les Miserables”, “Phantom Of The Opera”, “The King And I”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Oliver”, “Hairspray” and others.It is being directed and choreographed by Anthony Williams with Jonathan Chalker as musical director.
