Fresh from the Broadway success of Burnley Light Opera Society’s “Guys And Dolls” – the young people of Basics Junior Theatre School are taking up the musical mantle next month.
Basics are to present Cole Porter’s masterpiece, “Anything Goes” at Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, Colne.
And fans of this musical will be delighted when they walk into the beautiful Hippodrome Theatre and are greeted by the sight of the show’s famous ocean-liner set and a splendid 20-plus piece orchestra.
The show is a romantic farce from the old school of musical comedy, featuring sailors, stockbrokers and gangsters aboard an ocean liner to England playing out Cole Porter’s witty, toe-tapping score. Jessica Balderstone, as Reno Sweeney, is the nightclub singer cum-evangelist who serenades the audience with Porter’s best songs as well as leading some of the best ensemble tap numbers you will have seen from Basics in years.
“Anything Goes” runs from December 9th to 13th at 7-30pm with a 2pm Saturday matinee.
