The Lancashire flag – a red rose on a bright yellow background – is flying over Burnley Town Hall today to mark Lancashire Day.
The council is also supporting an online social media campaign by Visit Lancashire to encourage people to “Say cheese for Lancashire” by taking a “selfie” of themselves and sending in the photo.
Here at the Express, we’re collecting your selfies, too, to mark the word making it into the Oxford English Dictionary and being named “word of the year”! Don’t miss Friday’s newspaper for a collection of the selfies we’ve been sent so far. Email your selfies to firstname.lastname@example.org
Lancashire Day commemorates the day in 1295 when Lancashire sent its first representatives to Parliament by King Edward I of England to attend what later became known as the Model Parliament.
