A Burnley cheerleading group has a lot to shout about after collecting silverware at the UKCA winter championships.
The girls from Clarets Cheer and Dance came away with an outstanding four first places and champion titles.
The competition was held at the Veledrome Centre, Manchester, and consisted of two days, Saturday cheerleading and group stunt, Sunday consisted of dancing.
Senior cheerleaders aged 16+, Junior B cheerleaders aged 13-16, Junior A Group stunt aged 9-12 and senior group stunt ages 16+, all claimed the first place with trophies and titles. Some of the other teams and girls walked away with runners up positions and some just missed out on first place on the Saturday.
The “Tiny teenies and teenies” teams, which consisted of girls ages between 4-9, walked away with second place in their first ever competition.
Head coach Sophie Boyle said: “The girls have been training very hard for this competition since summer. The standard of the competition was very high this year and there were up to eight teams. We have all stepped it up a notch this year, More training hours, new uniforms, new tricks, harder routines, strong team of coaches under my wing all while trying to get our new very own training facility ready.”
Sophie added: “The girls have all worked very hard for this competition and deserve all these amazing results, I am very proud of each and every one of them.”
Looking ahead, she said: “We will now be working towards the nationals in March to hopefully obtain some bids for European championships in Croatia next summer.
