The Real Thing bring the soul to Colne

The best-selling soul band 'The Real Thing' are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut hit single '˜You to Me Are Everything', bringing their brand-new UK tour to Colne, giving their much loved disco inspired hits a new lease of life.

The Liverpool-based trio are back with a 24-date UK tour featuring the group’s three original vocalists Eddie Amoo, Chris Amoo and Dave Smith, along with their 5-piece band. The trio deliver a funky ‘in your face’ show with a strong ‘retro flavour’ with the band’s classic songs mixed with contemporary grooves.

Formed in 1972, the band has origins in the Mersey Beat boom of the 1960s and were discovered and launched by The Beatles before their 1976 release ‘You to Me Are Everything’ sailed to the top of the UK singles chart.

Commenting on The Real Thing’s success, singer Chris Amoo said, "There’s always going to be a sense of nostalgia about our music. It’s the sound track to so many people’s lives and that will never die."

The band have had songs covered by artists including Mary J Blige, Courtney Pine, and Philip Bailey (of Earth, Wind & Fire) and has been sampled by numerous hip hop artists as well as being featured in the Spike Lee movie, ‘Clockers’.

The band continue to tour up and down the country selling out venues including the Jazz Café, London and regularly perform at the Rewind the 80’s festivals and Here and Now festivals alongside such artists as Rick Astley, Boy George, Belinda Carlisle, Kool and the Gang, and Chic.

They will be at the Municipal Hall in Colne on Friday, December 2nd.
