Flowers - Everybody's Dying To Meet You: Brings nothing new to the table

Flowers are a London-based trio, who, with their second album Everybody's Dying To Meet You continue their sultry and stripped back nod to shoegaze.

With each song Rachel Kenedy’s upfront vocals take centre stage and there’s more than a hint of Alison Statton from Young Marble Giants about her, which is certainly no bad thing.

You definitely couldn’t level any accusation of hiding behind a wall of sound at the band, as each song is laid bare and, for the most part, pretty decent.

It’s the second half of the album where they really find their feet, with Tammy and My Only Friend being particularly stand out tracks.

The album is a pleasant and personal take on Nineties alternative rock, rather than a re-imagining.

Sadly they are bringing nothing new to the table, but what they do, they do very well.
