Children's play equipment covered in glass after mindless vandals dump doors and windows on popular Burnley park

Residents woke this morning to discover vandals had dumped doors and windows on a popular playground, leaving equipment covered in glass.

The items were dumped on the Queen Street play area in Briercliffe and these photographs were taken by a dog walker when she took her pets out this morning.

She said: "Why would anyone do such a thing? I just don't understand."

After posting the photographs on social media to warn people not to let their children go to the park, the post was was shared around 400 times with many people expressing their disgust and dismay at such a mindless act of vandalism.

The incident was reported to Briercliffe Parish Council and Burnley Council who sent Streetscene workers to the site to began a clear up operation.

Staff from Burnley Windows also assisted with the task of making the site safe.
