Steph is England's Strongest Woman!

Burnley girl Stephanie Clark was crowned England's Strongest Woman at Tamworth Castle on Sunday.

Last year she competed in the open category, and was the lightest competitor at 83kgs, but astonished fellow competitors and judges by taking fourth place.

Unfortunately, injury prevented her from competing in Britain’s Strongest Woman later that year, but this year, Stephanie qualified in the under 82kgs category.

She had promised her dad she would win as a Father’s Day present, and was as good as her word!

The first event was the log lift, not Stephanie’s strongest event, but she took joint third place with a lift of 65kgs.

The second event was the dead lift, set at 200kgs, which only three competitors managed to lift from the ground.

Stephanie won this event with three repetitions that she made look easy.

The squat was the next event, with 130kgs on the bar, and again Stephanie won this with 14 reps.

The fourth event was the farmer’s walk, with 95 kgs in each hand.

Though there was a slight wobble at the end of the 28-metre course, she took the win with a time of 27 seconds.

The final event was the sack of sand walk – 85kgs of sand in a sack to be carried as far as possible.

It is one of the most difficult events, as the grip has to be perfect to keep the sack stable.

A slight stumble caused Stephanie to lose her grip at 32 metres, placing her in third, but this was enough to give her an overall win with 33.5 points.

Anna Polijan took second with 30 points, and Tasha Webb took third place with 27.5 points.

The day was a great success and the crowd had lots of fun supporting all the competitors. These events are fun for all the family, and it is hoped there will be a good turnout in Manchester in August to support Stephanie at Britain’s Strongest Woman.
