New sponsors for rugby league club

Local family run boarding kennels and cattery, Sweetwell Boarding Kennels of Briercliffe, have agreed to sponsor the club for the rest of the North West Merit League season and proprietor Paul Atkinson said: “We are pleased to support Burnley and Pendle Rugby League Club for the rest of what has been a successful season so far. Being a keen sportsman having played at a very good level of semi-pro football in my younger days, I think that any opportunity for young men to participate in sport should be encouraged.

“I hope that our assistance will help in establishing Burnley and Pendle Rugby League as the premier rugby league club in East Lancashire.”

Team manager Bob Lennard added: “I would like to thank Paul and his wife Liz for their contribution towards what I believe to be just the start of an exciting time for our sport as amateur rugby league follows the professional game in switching to a summer season.
