Lions' roar scares off Leyland's Warriors
Zac Child opened the scoring within two minutes after second rower Alex Woodcock and stand in hooker Ian Coates combined in the build up.
Coates then snuck over to extend the lead from dummy half after a series of heavy hitting by Jordan Lord and Luke Edwards resulted in the Warriors turning over the ball near their own try line.

Hide AdThe visitors, though, did find a route back in to the fixture when the half backs engineered an overlap from a scrum in the middle of the field and crashed over to record their first try. This was converted to make it 8-6.
But Burnley and Pendle hit back when Luke Edwards offloaded the ball for Ash Nuttall to score. Leyland struck again to reduce the arrears but it was short-lived as scrum half Simon Wrigley beat three defenders on the line to make it 16-10.
If the Lions thought that they had this in the bag, they were very much mistaken. Acknowledging their strengths, knowing that they possessed greater speed out wide, Warriors hit back scoring two tries early on. They edged into a four point lead.
However, a tactical transformation sparked the comeback and Jordan Lord’s first try of the afternoon was converted by Childs.

Lord then completed a successful afternoon for himself and the Lions by crossing the whitewash twice more to complete his hatrick.
