The reverse fixture, played only two weeks ago, served as a fresh wound for the home side and was key in spurring them to a 30-14 victory.

The game, tough, as it was tense, brought the best out of Burnley and Pendle in their finest performance to date.

In the opening exchanges both sides were unwilling to give much away, until Ryan Bradley scored the first points of the contest, and 16-year-old Marcus Farnsworth, converted.

Then captain Matt Crowley left the Warriors defence floundering to race away to score under the posts.

West Craven weren’t going to go down without a fight and shortly after scored a well-worked unconverted try.

In the second half, having weathered a Warriors onslaught, Bradley crashed home, and winger Craig Wiseman, dummied and burrowed his way over to stretch the lead to 24-4.

West Craven replied with an impressive backline move to score out wide, but 60 minutes in home pressure told again when the Warriors full back spilled and the loose ball was collected by Sonny Waddington, who placed the ball over the line. The final try was scored by the visiting side, making it 30-14

Burnley and Pendle Rugby League continue their run of home games tomorrow, taking on Warrington outfit, Bank Quay Bulls, kick-off 2-30 p.m. at the Prairie.
