East Lancs Vets in narrow defeat
AN East Lancs Vets team made up of players from Burnley, Nelson, Colne and the surrounding Pendle area narrowly lost to an excellent Rossendale Vets side, who included in their ranks Tim Fourie, a South African with Currie Cup experience.
Players like Alan Hornby, Liam McCartan, John Riley and Derek Binns turned back the years in a competitive and keenly fought out match, played in front of a large and knowledgeable crowd.
The game ebbed and fowed with the only score coming from a rolling maul, giving Rossendale a 5-0 victory.
A collection held after the game helped to raise £195 for the North West Air Ambulance.
