Forest started brightly with some excellent passing, and they were unlucky not to open the scoring in the first five minutes when great play from the midfield, in particular by veteran debutant Fiona Chadwick, saw them press into the D on numerous occasions.

But Oldham’s keeper was on fine form, and the sides went in goal-less.

It was more of the same for Forest in the second half. Once again they were on the attack, and once in the D, Judith Hind used some classic trickery to make herself some space to get a shot on goal.

Hind’s effort was on target but the ball was stopped on the line by an Oldham leg.

A penalty flick was awarded, and first team captain Cathy Waters kept her composure to open the scoring for Forest.

Forest continued to press forward in search of a second goal, and club captain, Hind, took the ball into the D. Such was her skill and determination it took two stick fouls to stop her, and Waters again converted the penalty flick.

With the resounding thud of the ball on the backboard, Forest knew that they were headed for the next round.
