Pendle Forest come from two goals down to beat Lytham

Forest were out of the blocks quickly and had a number of penalty corners, but failed to convert, and Lytham scored two goals from short corners just before half-time.

A rousing team talk from coach Scott Hornby saw Pendle regain their discipline and again take the game to Lytham.

Lytham were forced to play deepin their own half, which enabled player of the match Olivia Bythell to pick up and drive through to create numerous penalty corners and chances.

They pulled a goal back through Hayley Baines from a short corner.

Then Waters lost her marker down the left, and slipped the ball through to Baines, who was fouled in the D, but the umpire played a good advantage and she skilfully slotted the ball into the net.

Forest were not content to settle for the draw and sustained pressure led to another penalty corner.

A well-worked training ground set piece saw Deb Bythell lift the ball towards the goal but it was cleared illegally with the stick above the head.

A penalty flick was awarded and Olivia Bythell confidently put the ball past the keeper to give Pendle Forest their first three points of the season.

They are next in action at home to Springfield tomorrow,

Forest’s third team won their first home game of the season against Windermere 4-0, leaving them top of the table after goals from Claire Birkett (2) and Denise Tuck (2).

Pendle Forest’s Under 15s lost 3-1 at Preston against Blackpool with Niamh Mullaney on target.
