Padiham, who have won the competition twice in their history, with the last success coming a decade ago, had former captain Callum Clarke to thank as his contribution with both bat and ball proved vital.

Clarke posted 60 in the away side’s finish of 162 all out and then took 2-21 from a five-over spell to aid their defence.

Jimmy Gray added 29 runs to Padiham’s total and Siviwe Gidana made 26 before the club’s bowlers finished the job off.

Gray claimed three victims at the expense of 24 runs while Gidana and Curtis Meehan also took a couple of wickets apiece.

Padiham will now battle it out with Ribblesdale Wanderers at the Arbories on July 15th for a place in the final.

However, they won’t be joined in the final four by Read who lost out to Settle by six wickets in their quarter-final tie at the Marshfield Ground.

Thomas Turner’s unbeaten knock of 73, which included 11 boundaries, rescued the away side’s innings somewhat as they closed on 161-8.

But a 119 run stand between Shakeel Richards and Robbie Davidson for the third wicket caused substantial damage.

Richards finished unbeaten on 66 and Davidson added 77 to secure a semi-final tie against Salesbury at Ribchester Road.

Read claimed the bragging rights in the Twenty20 clash on enemy soil, edging the outcome by 16 runs.

Paid man Matt Walker made 58 off only 30 balls in an opening stand of 82 with William Wrathall.

The latter made 59 but then Curtis Meehan claimed remarkable figures of 5-12 to slow things down.

Callum Clarke posted 76 in Padiham’s response but it wasn’t enough.

Padiham then failed to make any impression on Ribblesdale Cricket League leaders Settle as they were beaten by six wickets.

The hosts made light work of eclipsing Padiham’s 110-8 finish which saw Clarke top score with a knock of 30.

Read also lost out, finishing 64 runs off Oswaldtwistle Immanuel’s 265-5 finish.

Shubham Khajuria fired a magnificent 151 runs for the visitors at Whalley Road and Daniel Metcalf posted 66 to put them out of reach.
