Video: 1967 opening of Nelson’s Arndale Centre

Now, years later, Pendle Movie Makers are compiling film footage of the event and are asking people involved in the launch for their comments to air over the clips.

They have been putting together footgae of the grand opening of the Arndale Centre (now Pendle Rise) in June, 1967, as well as scenes of demolition and construction work.

Peter Copestake, of Pendle Movie Makers, told how they discovered the filming was “totally silent” and went on: “It would be great for anyone who was there at the launch to get in touch. We will have an event if we get responses.”
