Manager June Heys said it was the charity’s way of recognising the good work the club’s charity, Burnley FC in the Community, has been doing

“We have organised a small display of Burnley Football Club memorabilia as a tribute to the club and a way of saying thank you to them for the wonderful work they are doing for the senior citizens of Burnley.

“Its charity Burnley FC in the Community run sessions on Wednesday mornings for senior citizens under the wonderful name of Extra Time.”

The Extra Time project, which has been running since 2014, aims to reduce social isolation among the elderly.

The weekly sessions are held from 10am until noon and include a variety of activities, including stadium tours, healthy pitch walks, indoor carpet bowls, board games and refreshments.

For the past month, Age UK has been running a similar project entitled No One Should Have No One.

“We think it is absolutely fantastic that the club is taking time out of its busy schedules to give something back to the community, especially people in later life, as we like to call them,” said June. “So from all the staff and volunteers at Age UK we would just like to say thank you. ”
