Bid to halt demolition of historic Brierfield signal box
Councillors have been asked to block the planned demolition of the historic signal box at Brierfield railway station.
Network Rail announced its intention to knock the box down earlier this year but County Coun. Azhar Ali asked members of Pendle Council’s Brierfield and Reedley Committee to take steps to prevent this happening.
“At the same time as £25 million is being spent on a redevelopment at Brierfield Mills on the other side of the road, I think we should preserve the signal box as part of our heritage for future generations,” he said.
