Be first to ride new trams between Fleetwood and Blackpool

After an investment of £100m., the state-of-the-art service is just weeks away from completion and on the morning of Tuesday, April 3rd, the first passenger service will travel from Blackpool to Fleetwood.

To celebrate the launch there are 20 pairs of Golden Tickets up for grabs giving the lucky winner a seat on the first ever journey.

Lancashire County Council is giving away five Golden Tickets. The heritage tramway has been transformed into a fast, reliable and comfortable service fit for the future. It will not only be welcomed by tourists to the Fylde coast, but also provides the backbone for future jobs and regeneration by providing a vital link for commuters.

The £100m. investment has been made possible with funding from the Department of Transport, Lancashire County Council, Blackpool Council and Interreg European Funding. The investment has been split into three contracts: replacing the remaining 8km of track, building a new tram depot at Starr Gate, Blackpool, and buying 16 state-of-the-art “Flexity 2” low-floor articulated trams trams.

The new trams will not only be more comfortable, they will also speed up journey times by up to 15 minutes. The first trams taking fare paying passenger will start on April 4th with details of route and timings available nearer the time.
