Nominations for the Burnley Community Sports Awards are now open and Burnley Leisure is calling for people to put forward their local sporting heroes.
There are 10 categories in which people could win an accolade, including club and coach of the year, volunteer and young volunteer of the year, school of the year, rising star, health champion, community award and more.
All shortlisted nominees will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony hosted by GB Olympic gold medallist Tessa Sanderson on July 9th at Burnley Mechanics.
Nominations can be submitted at www.burnley.gov.uk/sportsawards.
Paul Foster, Burnley Leisure development manager, said: “Burnley Community Sport Awards has helped recognise and share some amazing stories of achievements by individuals and teams from Burnley over many years.
“Each year there are new nominations from various schools, sport clubs and community groups across the town. And every year the panel is faced with the hard job picking the finalists for each category from the staggering amount of nominations we receive. This proves to us that the quality of sport in Burnley is at a very high level and there are plenty of opportunities for people to get into sport. And this wouldn’t happen without the support of volunteers within our community, so let’s recognise this and celebrate community sport in Burnley again this year.”
Burnley Leisure is also offering local business and organisations the opportunity to raise their profile by sponsoring this event. For information how to sponsor an award, please contact Michelle Grimes on 01282 425011 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org
