The first came when Deb Bythell’s shot managed to slide through the keeper’s legs, followed by a second when Olivia Purtill squared the ball across the top of the D for Olivia Bythell to roll out and srike on target.

Shortly before half-time, a super cross from Sally Evans found the stick of a perfectly-timed run from captain Cathy Waters, who swept it into the net.

Lytham could hold their frustration no longer and when a visiting player lashed out with her stick, she received a yellow card.

Leading 3-0 going into the second half, Forest continued to press, and a goal mouth tussle saw Karen Nuttall slip it past the keeper at close range.

Olivia Bythell then made it 5-0 with a clinical reverse stick strike before Lytham pulled one back after a goalmouth led to a penalty flick conversion, and late on Forest were green carded for being too quick off the line at penalty corners.

But this made no difference, as Nuttall bagged her second and Waters also added to her tally with a slide onto the penalty spot, followed with an excellent finish.

The first team remain five points clear at the top of North Division Two.

Pendle Forest’s second team beat Blackpool 4-2 in the league, with Kayleigh Vickers and Julie Portman scoring two goals apiece.

Forest’s thirds had a week off from competitive play but played a friendly against Bolton seconds at Farnworth.

After soaking up early pressure, Forest opened the scoring when Cath Hutchinson crossed in front of the keeper for Claire Birkett to knock in.

Bolton stepped up their play and scored three classy goals in a 15-minute spell, before Forest pulled one back when Emily Dunleavy found Hutchinson, who dribbled 30 metres before firing home from mid-D.

Seven minutes into the second half Forest were level after Zoe Kidney linked with Thea Cormack on the right, who crossed for Birkett to nick a second from close range.

Bolton regsined the lead from a corner, but Forest themselves earned a draw from a penalty corner, as Kidney slipped left to Hutchinson, who fired home.
