Fresh from winning the British Formula 600cc British Championship, the pair took on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit in Kent in the much faster and longer sidecar.

It is a steep learning curve in what is the best domestic championship in the world and with poor track conditions due to the wet and greasy conditions they qualified in 13th place and finished in 9th place overall, averaging 77mph for the 10 lap race.

In Race Two under much drier conditions, John and Andy moved through the field finishing in a superb fifth place. They even managed to miss the four sidecars what crashed at the Clearways bend causing the safety car to be deployed.

Speaking afterwards John said he was happy with the weekend’s racing and felt they could have finished higher in the field in the second race if one of the other sidecars had closed the gap when the safety car was out for several of the laps. Next season he is hoping to compete in this championship and again at the Isle of Man TT as well as a round of the World Championship, which is held in Europe.
