BURNLEY bowlers have welcomed the new Indoor Bowls facility at The BEST Centre with great delight.

With the cold weather now upon them, the bowlers have the chance to keep their hand in on a regular basis over the winter period by playing the indoor version of the game, also allowing them to keep up the social aspect of the outdoor game.

The BEST Centre have launched a brand new indoor bowls league, sponsored by Nigel Holden & Co Solicitors based in Barrowford, with fixtures played throughout the week.

The league is now up and running, with a total of 10 teams from around the Burnley and Padiham area.

Teams have been entered from Towneley, Ightenhill, Padiham, Queensgate and Causeway - all members of the Burnley Bowls Partnership, which has helped the centre to develop the league.

Andrew Smith, Director of The BEST Centre, said: “It is great that so many teams and bowlers have supported us with this league. A special thanks must go to the Burnley Bowls Partnership for their help in getting it off the ground and to Nigel Holden for his kind sponsorship.”

Ken Musk, of Causeway Cougars, added: “It has been over six years since we last had a league of indoor bowling here in Burnley.

“It’s great to be involved over the winter period to keep our eye in, and its great socially,”
