The final of the Winter League at Burnley Golf Club will be contested by Lee Corns and Mark Atwell, and Steve Butschok and Neil Field.
Corns and Attwell beat Mark Corns and Nick Macadam on the 19th hole in the first semi-final, before Butschok and Field beat Margaret Pendlebury and Martin Foulds by 3 and 2.
The yellow ball competition was won by a team comprising of Andy Samuels, Peter Smith, Bob Gent and David Holland.
Vishal Tripathi, Ray and David Scaife and Brian Pollard were second.
Meanwhile, the first Open competition of the season attracted 130 players, with 100 visiting golfers, on a bright and breezy day at the Glen-View course.
Andrew Sheard and Paul Summer (Leyland) won, from Kevin Barker and Mark Dawson (Bradley Hall) and Andrew Miller (Towneley) and Carl Parker (Nelson).
There was a mixed set of results for Burnley FC Girls and Ladies’ junior sides at the weekend.
The Under 14s had the stand-out result, with a thumping 10-1 home victory against the League’s bottom side, Hesketh Colts.
The Under 14s are in a transition phase, following a change of Manager, and both the scoreline and good performance will give the team confidence going forward.
The Under 13s played twice over the weekend, with Academy Juniors providing the opposition on both occasions.
A subdued first half performance against determined opponents saw the Clarets trail 1-0 in Saturday’s home game.
However, the side fought back well in the second half, and scored late in the game, to pick up a point.
The Clarets turned on the style in Sunday’s away game and gained a deserved 3-0 win at the Bolton Arena, with goals from Chloe Broughton (2) and Lucy Kerr.
Elsewhere, Tiggy Gent’s 20th goal of the season was not enough to give the Under 12s any points, as they lost 4 – 2 at home against a very strong Blackpool side.
The Under 16s were unable to keep their recent good run going, as they let a 2-0 lead slip, to eventually lose 7-2 at home against Wigan.
