Two young Burnley Rugby Club players had a Valentine’s Day to remember.

Bram Richmond and Morgan Williams appeared on the pitch at Twickenham before England’s Six Nations game against Italy. The boys were chosen to represent their schools as a part of the All Schools programme - an England Rugby initiative aimed at getting secondary schools playing rugby.

Meanwhile the firsts also had a great day recording their first away win of the season at North Manchester. Burnley took a 15-7 lead at half-time after tries from Simon Finnan and first team debutant Elliot Gaughan. Burnley then dominated the second half with Chris Stothard grabbing a hat-trick to win the game 34-19. Burnley travel to St Edward’s tomorrow, Burnley are currently ninth in the North Lancashire Division One with St Edward’s bottom of the table having only won one game all season. The seconds, who are 10th in Division Three North, travel to Ashton on Mersey, who are second from bottom and haven’t won in their last five games. And the thirds are at home to Fylde. The thirds are eighth in the table and the visitors are second from bottom in Division Four North.

Elsewhere the U13 travelled to Leigh but lost narrowly.

Liam Byhells kicking was a feature of the game, with Bram Richmond named man of the match and Toby Cole awarded coaches’ player.
