Times boost for Burnley Bobcats

BURNLEY Bobcats swimmers earned five National Qualifying Times at the Stockport Metro Long Course meet over the weekend.

On Friday night, five swimmers, traveled over to swim the long distances. Collette Meade, Grace Pickles, Erica Minozzi and Ella Sheridan took part in the 800m Freestyle, and Thomas Hamer took part in the 1,500m Free.

All swam well, with Ella Sheridan gaining her 800m Freestyle National Qualifying Time and Erica Minozzi and Ella both gained Qualification Times for the National 1,500m Open Water Championships.

Day two saw William Murray win the 100m Free, and Minozzi and Emma Fothergill both made the 100m Backstroke final, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.

On the final day of competition, Minozzi bagged her 100m Freestyle National Time and Sheridan secured her second National Time in the 400m freestyle.

Murray was fifth in the 100m Butterfly final,and Minozzi and Katie Rennolds made the 100m Free final, finishing second and fifth respectively.

Over the weekend Dean Moorhouse gained his first North West Regional Qualification time, taking the total number of Bobcats swimmers with Regional times to 23.

Grace Pickles, Kerry Holding, Colette Meade, Ellie Taylor, Harry Pilkington, Jamie Sharpley, Robert Bryce and Luke Pickles, all swam well, having already secured their Regional times.

The squad was boosted by Elicia Brown, Saffron Fenton, Hannah Procter, Abigail Procter, Madison Beswick and Jack Moodie, swimming at this level for the first time, and all turned in great performances

As well as Sheridan and Minozzi, the following Bobcats also gained National Qualification Times at the Lancashire Championships last month for first claim clubs - Murray 100m Free, Sharpley 100m and 200m Backstroke and Katie Rennolds 200m, 400m, 800m Free and 1,500m Open Water.
