St Peter’s played their first home game on their newly maintained courts at the leisure centre in the North West Counties Squash League last Thursday evening.

They won 5 - 0 thanks to wins of 3-1 and 3-0 by Jonathan Smith and Ron Darlington followed by a gritty performance by Scott Wise who won his game 3-0 despite an injury sustained last week.

The star and outstanding player of the night was Nik Czerniani playing only his second team game taking up strong striking positions that gave him time on the ball and the option to play different shots, winning the first two games 9-0 and 9-0 before winning the third game 9-3.

St Peter’s No 1 Rod Taggart continued his unbeaten run winning comfortably 3-0 keeping him at the top of the league rankings for the third week running.

St Peter’s next game is away to Fairways Lodge, Prestwich.
