After 18 months without racing, Burnley-born Simon Edmondson enjoyed two third-place finishes in round one of the East Midland Racing Association Formula 400 Championship.
The 36-year-old former Burnley CC cricketer competed on his Suzuki SV650 in the mini twin class, as he looks to regain the title he won in 2013 in his second full season.
Simon qualified in fourth overall, and second in class, in 1:03.497 behind Paul Westerdale (Kawasaki ZXR400, 1:02.221), Trytstan Finicchiaro (Aprilia RRV GP450, 1:02.544) and Daniel Henderson (Suzuki 650, 1:02.846.
In race one, he came home fifth overall and third in class.
Westerdale took the win from Jamie Ingham (Honda CBR600), Gary Arden (Suzuki 650) and Jonathan Wells (Suzuki SV650), and he was again third in class in race two, in sixth place, behind Ingham, Westerdale, Wells, Arden and Mike Norbury (Honda 600).
The next round is at Mallory Park on April 26th.
