SIR John Thursby’s students performed well and came away with seven medals in the Burnley Inter-Schools’ Gymnastic competition.

In the individual competition, Ramisha Fatima won silver at level one, Aliyah Islam won silver at level two and Yasmin Latif won silver at level three.

In the level one pairs competition, Emily Pickering and Sophie Howson won silver with Emma Woodworth and Aliya Rahman taking bronze.

Meanwhile, the school’s Year 7 and 8 boys and Year 8 girls took part in a table-tennis friendly against St Bede’s of Blackburn.

In a very close and enjoyable competition, Sir John Thursby just came out on top, winning by the narrowest of margins, 61 games to 59.

There was some excellent table tennis and all the students enjoyed some extra competition.

A return match is to be arranged.
