Burnley’s Sandygate Amateur Boxing Club graced the squared circle over the weekend at Blackpool’s Imperial Hotel.
Harle Syke’s William Smith (14) faced B.McGreggor (Blackpool Kingscote ABC) in a junior contest of three two-minute rounds.
Straight from the opening bell Smith dominated, using his improved ringcraft to great effect, controlling proceedings throughout.
The second and third rounds once again saw the Year 10 Blessed Trinity pupil box superbly making great use of his lead hand and rear hand combinations, keeping the home favourite at bay.
It was no surprise when Sandygate’s Smith’s hand was raised by the referee.
Also on the bill, Rosehill’s Brandan Hird (11) competed in a ABA skills bout against R.Longson (Egan’s ABC).
Hird made his intentions clear right from the off with a dominating, controlling style which excited the knowledgeable fight crowd.
Hird showed just why he has a growing reputation assomeone special to watch out for the future.
