Burnley’s Spirit of Sport facility on Ormerod Road is to host athletes from around the country in the GBPF British Powerlifting Championships next month.
On June 22nd and 23rd there will be a strength spectacle, with powerlifting one of the ultimate tests of strength, comprising of three different disciplines - the squat, bench press and deadlift.
The event is being organised by the North West division of the Great Britain Powerlifting Federation, who hold their local events at Intershape gym in Colne, and this will be the fourth national championship that has been held in the region.
NW secretary Bryn Evans from Nelson said: “It’s really great that we are able to bring the biggest championship on the powerlifting calendar to Burnley. The Spirit of Sport facility at Blessed Trinity RC College is perfect for our needs, and the team there are really excited about hosting a national championships.
“We are expecting two busy days of lifting, with both men and women coming from as far as far north as Scotland down to the south coast.”
