The British Superbike circus rolled into Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire over the Bank holiday weekend.
Rising local superstar Harry Hartley and the Halsall Biker Gear team were hoping to build on the success of the previous race, two weeks earlier, and he came home with two top-20 finishes.
The team has undergone some changes and all efforts are now firmly focused on Harry.
Qualifying didn’t go to plan, this placed Harry on a lowly 22nd grid position with “The Hare” having to chase down the riders in front of him, on a bike that had to be repaired from a warm up crash earlier, and that he was unable to test before race 1.
Despite all of the mishaps, Harry, finished 17th outside of the points.
Starting Race 2 from higher up on the grid, Harry started his battle to gain points in the championship, unfortunately, on the approach to Knickerbrook, he was caught out and lost places.
Over the remaining laps, Hartley pushed on taking him back up the order and after skillfully avoiding another rider’s bike that had crashed at Hislops “The Hare” continued to complete the race finishing in a respectable 17th position.
During the weekend speaking with Martin Halsall, owner of the team, he commented how pleased he is with Harry’s progress and the future ahead for both Harry and the team.
After catching up with Harry after the race, although he may not have had the best weekend, he is happy to be able to hold the pace and run with other riders in the top 15.
