Five Burnley Bobcats swimmers competed in the ASA North West Region Open Water Championships held at Salford Quays.
Erica Minozzi, 15, won gold for Lancashire and the North West Region in the 2km joint 15-16 year old youth event, which also means she has qualified to swim in the National Open Water event in Sheffield at the end of July.
Both Tom Mackay, 13, and Tom Hamer, 14, also took silver medals for the North West Region in their 1.5km age group championship - a race which featured Ellla Sheridan and Grace Pickles, both also 14.
Mackay was swimming in the event for the first time, while Hamer also took silver for Lancashire. In the girls, Sheridan took bronze for the region and county while Pickles just missed out after finishing fourth, although both girls were side by side throughout the entire race.
Both girls had already secured their place at Sheffield with pool based entry times, and this year’s championships encompassed the County Championships for Lancashire and Cumbria.
Bobcats swimmers train in the pool at St Peter’s Centre in Burnley eight times a week.
