Burnley table tennis star Fliss Pickard won the Ladies’ Open Standing title at the British Para Table Tennis Championships in Grantham.
And she also took bronze in the Class 6 singles, losing a close semi-final to European medallist and three-time Paralympian David Wetherill 3-2.
The 22-year-old finished top of the round-robin Ladies’ Open Standing class, and clinched the title with a 3-2 win over class 9 player Tamar Packford.
“Overall I felt I had a good tournament,” said Pickard. “It was difficult playing such a good friend, but I was happy to come through another tough battle. I also felt I played well in the mixed Class 6 event, losing 3-2 in the semi-final to Dave.
“I feel I am playing with a lot more confidence. I will continue to work hard and hope to take my good form into upcoming internationals.”
The prizes were presented by Bob Adams, leader of South Kesteven District Council and Danny Reed, England international.
