Briercliffe Memorial Bowling Club’s annual tournament was one to remember as Dean Butler stormed to victory.
The tournament featured two groups of four players and was played as a round-robin with the winner of each group advancing to the final.
The winner of Group One was Barry Mills who won all three of his matches, which were played to 21up
Group-Two was a much tighter affair with three players winning two matches each.
It was Butler who reached the final though with a better head-to-head record.
The final therefore came down to Mills and Butler.
Played to 25up, the final itself proved to be a real ding-dong affair with both players playing to a very high level.
As the match wore on though it was Butler who proved to have the more stamina than the more experienced Mills.
Mills began to flag a little towards the end of the match, and he just came up short, Butler deservedly winning out 25-21.
