With Burnley Rugby Club’s first team getting the weekend off it was a case of mixed fortunes for the seconds and thirds.

The seconds recorded an impressive 24 -12 victory over a strong Ormskirk side.

Burnley opened the scoring through evergreen Danny Marshall but trailed by two points at the half time interval.

The second half was much better with strong running from Charlie Gregory, Lee Mason Sam Hamer and Phi Thornton. After much pressure Nick Roberts, making his seconds debut, scored.

Two more tries by Ashley Robinson and Steve Harrison followed, both of which were converted by Harrison .

The thirds went down 22-19 narrowly at league leaders Vale of Lune .

Burnley’s scorers were Dom Leck, a brace from Ken Lee and two Joe Parkinson conversions. There were decent games from returning Eddie Blake and Tom O’Grady.

The Under 11s put in some good performances against Bury.

Burnleys scorers came from a James McDermott hat trick, Freddie Shorrocks, Tom Madran, Jack Slater. There were also good runs by Ellie Pullan and Brandon Sharpe.

The Under 9s also scored plenty of tries with seven from Harry Cole, a brace from Layton Dalrymple, and one from captain Finlay Crabtree.

The newly formed Under 6s played their first match and it was no mean feat given the cold conditions. Dan Jackson, Ava Smith, Noah Smith, Archie Lorimer and Tristan Culshaw all representing the club admirably.
