Burnley Golf Club’s winter league is now down to the last four stage.
The games are played match play better ball, and in the quarter-final knockout, Darren Jennings and Martin Leach beat David Owen and Colin Weston by 1 up.
Alan Rigby Lovat and Mick Chambers came past David Gray and David Robinson 3 and 2.
The winners will play a semi-final knockout on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the first summer competition was held last Saturday, a mixed-gender competition, to get all categories of players back out after the winter break.
The competition was played with Stableford scoring, and Craig Holden and Rob Dutoit emerged victorious with 46 points, one more than John Sudall and Brian Smith, with Lee Corns and Steve Hargreaves third with 44 points.
Steve Wilson was in tremendous form at the weekend at Towneley Golf Club.
He had an excellent tally of 44 points to win the latest round of the club’s winter league competition.
New member John Griffith was runner-up on the card from Gary Townley, after both players recorded 43 points.
Nearest the pin awards went to Townley at the 6th hole, with Stan Boardman earning the plaudits at the 17th.
