BURNLEY Bobcats swimmers have travelled far and wide to compete in Stockport, Blackpool, Sunderland and Cardiff.

Will Murray was selected to represent England in the W.I.S.E. (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and England) International held in Sunderland.

With many stars of the future on show, Will stormed to victory in the Boys’ 100m Freestyle in a new personal best time of 54.47secs. He also helped the boys’ Medley and Freestyle relay teams to victory. England went on to win the fixture and Will could now be selected to represent GB schools in Brazil in 2013.

A group of swimmers took part in the Stockport open gala. Grace Pickles, Ella Sheridan, Katie Rennolds and Erica Minozzi competed in the 800m freestyle.

This was the first time the race had been swum competitively this season and only Grace returned with a new pb.

Team mate Thomas Hamer travelled to Cardiff to compete in his opening 1,500m of the season and managed to knock 10 seconds off his pb from last season.

During the rest of the weekend, solid performances were achieved by Lucy Cole, Colette Meade, Madison Beswick, Emma Fothergill, Kerry Holding, and William Beavan at Stockport.

At the same time many other Bobcats were swimming for their first claim clubs at Palatine Pool, Blackpool in the Inter Association Gala. All put in fantastic swims, many gaining yet more pbs.

Chairman Simon Holding said: “To have Bobcat swimmers competing all over the country at a variety of events, showcasing their talents, is just reward for their dedication and commitment.”
