Alan has round of his life to top Winter League

ALAN Maxfield had his best-ever round at Towneley Golf Club when he totalled a staggering 49 points to take top place in the latest round of the club’s Winter League competition.

Dave Windle took runners-up spot on the card from Mick Southern, both players scoring 44 points.

Nearest the pin awards went to Alan Kelly at the 6th and Neil Jackson at the 17th.

Clubhouse chairman Paul Keenan is the league leader at present, followed by Steve Wyatt, with Gary Turner in third.

The previous week, veteran Bob “Silver Fox” McGlynn rolled back the years to total 44 points and take top spot in the Winter League.

Runner-up was Dave Plumb on the card from Steve Wilson, after both amassed 43 points.

Nearest the pin awards went to Ross Swift at the 6th hole, and Maxfield at the 17th.
