Kevin claims Pendle and Pendle Grand Prix win

SPENBOROUGH AC’s Kevin Ogden won the seventh race of the Pendle and Burnley Grand Grix on Sunday - the Burnley Boys’ Club 10k Road Race, starting at Barden Track.

Ogden, also the first M40 veteran, won by 22 seconds from Gary Shaw from Clayton-le-Moors Harriers.

A further 18 seconds behind Shaw was Stephen Chew from Wharfedale Harriers.

Crossing the line second in the M40 category and fourth over all was Andrew Stubbs, again from Clayton-le-Moors.

Finishing fifth, again from Clayton, was Matthew Lalor.

First M45 runner was Phil Huntington with a time of 38 minutes 17 seconds, Kieron Horrigan finished on top in the M50 category, and Thorton Taylor,from Rossendale Athelitics Club, finished first in the M55 category.

The first female to finish was Amy Green with a time of 37 minutes 51 seconds, with the second girl Laura Hesketh.

Jeffrey Pickup finished first in the M60 category with a time of 43 minutes 47 seconds, and the M65 category was won by David Scott, from Clayton.

First M70 runner was Ted Orrell, again from Clayton.

Gayle Whittaker, with a time of 42 minutes 22 seconds, won the W35 category, and Nicola Nutall from Trawden AC finshed with a time of 45 minutes 26 seconds as first F40.

Jayne Butterworth, from Skipton AC, won the F45 category, and Irene Roche was first F50 finisher.

Winning the F60 catergory was Jennifer Adams with a time of 49 minutes 45 seconds.

And first F70 category was the legendary Kitty Garnett from Clayton.

The next race is on Sunday - the Hendon Brook 13.5-mile race, starting from Marsden Park Golf Club from 11 a.m.

That is followed on June 24th by the Trawden 7 Trail Race, the Towneley Park 5k Road Race on July 1st, the Hapton Windmills Fell Race on Friday, July 6th, the Hurst Green Trail Race on the 15th, and Cliviger 6 Road Race on the 29th.

The last two races of the series are in August - the Worsthorne Moor Trail Race on the 5th and Boulsworth Fell Race on the 12th.
