Golden Cue set for final showdown!

A DATE for the 2011 Moorhouse’s Golden Cue Final has been set.

The competition, revived in 2007 following a 16 year absence, sees amateur players among club members from Burnley, Pendle and Ribble Valley do battle for the title.

And the 64-strong field has come down to the last two - David Howe of Ighten Leigh, and Farak Adjaib of Padiham Snooker Club, with the pair facing each other at Ighten Leigh Social Club on Sunday, July 17th in a best of seven-frames match, followed by a presentation of this year’s prizes.

There has been a two-month delay since the semi-final stage, and for good reason.

Howe, 46, donated one of his kidneys, in order for his wife Kathleen to receive one in return, as part of an exchange scheme which finds matches for kidney donors.

Having spoken to competition organiser Neil McGovern, the final was delayed, and having made a good recovery, Howe has been busy practising for what will no doubt be a tough match.
