And as he looks to build on two clean sheets in four games, Dyche said: “We're still searching for our first win, and we have to have that hunger and desire to get that, and not wait for it.

"We have to make it happen, not wait for it, and we've spoken a lot with the players about that over the last few weeks.

"Slowly but surely we're beginning to look ourselves, but we've got to take action as soon as we can.”

In their way stand Crystal Palace, who lost their opening seven games three years ago, including a 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor, which led to the sacking of Ronald de Boer, and the appointment of Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson steered the side to safety, and Palace look in good shape so far this season, with four wins from eight outings.

Dyche said: "They've had a good side the last few years, they have some very good players.

”They've been up and down a little bit, but that can happen in the Premier League.

"They are a good outfit, a very experienced side that's for sure.

"I've always thought they were a decent side, and Roy (Hodgson) and Ray (Lewington) know what they're doing, how to get the team organised, and operating at the right level.”
