FOOTBALL’S January transfer window has seen some eye-watering sums exchanged.
Liverpool have handed over £35m. for Andy Caroll from Newcastle while Chelsea have written a cheque for an amazing £50m. to Liverpool for Fernando Torres.
While most of us have less money in our pocket and are facing the hardest cutbacks for generations, are these sums simply over the top or are the nation’s top players worth every penny for the entertainment they bring?
