The Clarets host Forest that Turf Moor having climbed to second in the Championship table with a 2-1 win at Leeds on Saturday.

Vokes scored the second goal - his fourth of the season - and the Wales international said: “It’s another game that comes thick and fast. We’ve got home advantage so we can hopefully make that pay.

“We’ve had some good games in the cup.

“This will be another tough one being a Championship battle, but it’s a game we go into with a positive mindset.”

Five years ago, Burnley combined a promotion push with a run to the semi-finals of the competition, and Vokes added: “A cup run would be fantastic. We’ve just got to take every game as it comes and keep going.

“It’s another game for us. With Championship opposition there’s no reason for us not to take our form in that into the cup and hopefully push on. They’re obviously a strong outfit this year but we’ve got to approach it as another game we can win.”

Midfielder David Jones is a doubt after being stretchered off at Elland Road with a badly gashed ankle, following a late challenge from Leeds substitute Dominic Poleon.

Boss Sean Dyche said:”It’s a cut, it’s a bad cut, but we’re not thinking it’s any more than that at the moment.

“We took him off because you can’t be sure on a football pitch, but he seems okay in himself and we’ll get it checked out properly when it settles down.

“The lad was a millisecond late, these boys now are powerful athletes, it’s one of those things.

“Obviously I wasn’t delighted on the sidelines, but you know deep down it’s just part of the game, there was no malice.”

There was some suggestions that Jones had collected his fifth booking of the season at Leeds and would sit out tonight’s game with a one-match suspension in any case, but Jones’ yellow card at Elland Road was his fourth, joining central midfield partner Dean Marney, a booking away from a ban.
