Dyche is understandably keen to retain the services of his 28-goal hitman - who swept the board at the club’s official player of the year awards - but with Premier League vultures circling around the 23-year-old, Dyche has accepted that the striker’s future may lie away from Turf Moor.

Newcastle, Sunderland, Hull City, Aston Villa and Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are all believed to be in the frame for Austin’s signature, though Dyche confirmed that an official approach has yet to be made.

“It’s well documented that there’s a number of clubs after Charlie,” said Dyche. “He’s a very good player who scores a bag full of goals so there is a reality to that situation. That reality suggests that if the number we receive is high enough then it’s money that can be put in to the club to build.

“That doesn’t mean to say he’s definitely going to go of course because the club is sensible enough to make sure that the move is right and if he does go it’s well worth its while for the club and the continued building of the club. It’s not a guarantee but there’s plenty interested as it’s been documented.”

Dyche, who is set to welcome back Austin alongside the remainder of the squad for pre-season on Tuesday, added: “It’s not about official approaches at this stage, it’s about people putting two and two together with plenty of stories going in the press. There’s been casual conversation but nothing major at the moment. It’s getting hotter let’s say.”
