Valuable point for Old Boys

BURNLEY Grammar School Old Boys picked up a valuable point in a highly-entertaining game on Saturday.

The visitors started well, and were denied an early lead when Langho keeper Hughes saved well from Stobbs in the fifth minute.

The hosts also had their chances, and the Old Boys had to thank keeper Oates for excellent saves from Langho striker Walker .

With the first half drawing to a close, the hosts took the lead, when a cross from the right was poked home, courtesy of Haworth .

After the half-time break, the visitors were putting the home defence under all sorts of pressure, and Stobbs put Jagger though, but his effort was well saved by Hughes.

However , after 50 minutes the equaliser arrived when Ellidge was allowed to run at the defence and score with a shot past the keeper from the edge of the penalty area.

The game swung from end-to-end, with both keepers being tested, but in the end both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

• BORROWDALE United had to work hard for a 3-3 draw with Clitheroe, coming back from 3-1 down with 12 minutes to go.

The goals came from Ben Catlow, Mike Kirby and man of the match Mark Philips.
