‘There was a funny feeling in the ground’ - Burnley boss Dyche

While a fifth league game without a win saw Burnley slip out of the top two for the first time since September, they moved a point nearer the summit - and a goal would have taken them back to the top.

So Dyche was surprised at the atmosphere at times at Turf Moor, in a crowd of 10,910.

He explained: “There was a funny feeling in the ground, a couple of ironic cheers of players.

“That’s interesting when you’re third in the table and two points off the top.

“It depends how your cup is, whether it’s half full or half empty.

“On the whole it was another point gained and another point closer to the top.”

It was the first time in 14 league games Burnley had failed to score, but a ninth clean sheet of the season: “We’ve made a good habit of keeping clean sheets and putting it in the other end.

“We were very close to doing that again.

“I thought we were defensively solid once again.

“We had the one scare with a header off the line.

“Other than that we were defensively solid.”

He added: “On chances created and possession I thought we could have edged it.

“We were very dominant with the ball in the first half, there were a few good chances crested and their keeper makes a fantastic save from Scott Arfield.

“He’s a young keeper I actually brought in there, so I was pleased with that for him but not on the night!

“There was a really strong performance in many areas.

“We’ve made a good habit of how strong our physicality is and I thought for the last 10 minutes the lads were full out to get a win and I think that’s an invaluable quality.
