The Premier League campaign has educated the club - Trippier

And the 24-year-old insists that those lessons will stand the club in good stead for a return to the top flight in the future.

Trippier has been an ever-present for Sean Dyche’s side this season and has contributed to nine clean sheets.

“The first 10 games as individuals and as a team we learnt a lot,” he said. “When Burnley are back in the Premier League we’ll learn from the lessons of this season.

“I’ve learnt that it’s difficult going forward and I need to pick and choose the right moments. We want to keep the key players and hopefully we can bounce back.”

While the club ultimately fell short in their pursuit of survival, the full-back feels that the players have given a good account of themselves.

“There’s disappointment in being relegated but game-wise I think we’ve shown everybody what we’re about; our fitness, we’re in every game and we always go out to win,” he said.

“We’ve defended well too, like last year. We’re disappointed but hopefully we’ll bounce back. ”
