Attention will now turn to next season, with the 2020/21 campaign due to commence on the weekend of 12th September. Here's all you need to know about when Burnley can sign new players this summer:

When is the summer transfer window officially open?

As of today (27th July), Premier League sides are able to sign new players.

In the case of Chelsea and Arsenal, who still have an FA Cup Final to battle out next weekend, new signings will not be eligible to take part.

When does the transfer window shut?

All summer business must be concluded by 17:00 on October 5th - a date which looks likely to also be observed by Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A.

Free agents can still be signed after this window closes, as long as they are not still attached to a club once it shuts.

Interestingly, a new rule is set to come into play, which will allow Premier League sides to sign players from their EFL clubs for a further two weeks, with this separate window operating closing at 17:00 on 16th October.

What about the January transfer window?

The winter window is expected to operate as normal, with clubs allowed to sign new players between 1st January and 31st January 2021.
