‘Teams will know they have been in a game’ - Duff

Leicester have climbed out of the bottom three after ending 140 days holding up the rest of the table, with four wins on the spin.

Their latest win came at Turf Moor on Saturday, leaving Burnley five points adrift of safety with four games to play.

But if the Clarets can produce a similar run of results, they may well yet escape an immediate return to the Championship.

Duff said: “It’s going to be tough, but we were written off at the start of the season, we were written off at the back end of last year, so nothing’s changed.

“We’ve got four games left and we’ll have a go.

“The worst case scenario is we’ll have a go, whether we win, lose or draw in the next four games.

“We maybe need a little bit of a break, something to go our way, but in the next four games win, lose or draw, the opposition will know they’ve been in a game.

“Whether it’s enough or we’re good enough to stay up, I can’t tell that, but we’ll have a go.”

Burnley are at West Ham on Saturday, before taking on Hull, Stoke and Aston Villa in their remaining games, and Duff added: “We’ve got to get enough points to try to stay up, there’s no point us worrying about other teams’ run-ins and what games they’ve got – unless we start winning games, we’re not going to stay up.

“We’re not naive enough to think that doing all right in games is good enough, because it isn’t.

“Fair play to Leicester, they’ve won four games on the spin, but they didn’t outplay us.

“I’m not sure Tom (Heaton) had a save to make before the last couple of minutes when we were gung-ho.

“But it gives us a belief that we can go and maybe turn it around.”
